How layouts are stored in e-guma
We create voucher layouts in Adobe's InDesign software, then export them as JPG files. A JPG file is stored for each and every voucher layout in e-guma. This JPG file contains all graphics, logos and other specific creative elements such as lines, frames, etc.
All other elements are automatically placed into the JPG file by e-guma when the voucher is ordered. Indeed, the following placeholder content is added:
- The voucher or gift voucher label
- Voucher title and description
- Personalisation (voucher for/from, message)
- Your business address
- QR code or barcode
- 12-digit voucher code
- Expiry date
Creating a voucher layout
The following elements are required in every vocher. Therefore, please specify a fixed location for all of these voucher elements when creating your design.
Title and description
e-guma automatically assigns a custom voucher title and description to every voucher. The title should take up no more than two lines. The description can contain approx. 400-700 characters (depending on the design).
Personalisation
Customers have the option of personalising their vouchers. This personalisation incorporates the following elements:
- Voucher for
- Voucher from
- Personal message (max. 160 characters)
Voucher code
e-guma assigns a uniquely identifiable, 12-digit alphanumeric code (e.g.,GH5J-78LO-9AV7) to every voucher. This code is complemented by a QR code (measuring at least 1.5 x 1.5 cm). The QR code can be printed in colour, but it should be placed on a white or very pale background in a contrasting colour. As an alternative to the QR code, a barcode can be used intead, should you already have suitable barcode scanners.
Expiry date
The applicable expiry date is also printed on the vouchers.
Your address
Your customers should be able to identify your contact details as well as your company's logo on the vouchers.
Voucher
Practically all vouchers feature the term Voucher or Gift Voucher alongside the title and description. Naturally, we can remove this element if you prefer to do without it.
voucher2mobile
We also add the logo of e-guma's mobile app, voucher2mobile, to our vouchers. Learn more about this app here. This information is optional
Design limitations
- e-guma does not support bold text
- User-defined row heights are not supported
- Font kerning and scaling is not possible in e-guma
- Vouchers can be created to cover an area no larger than a DIN A4 sheet
Print@home layout
The print@home layout is used when customers choose to print their own vouchers at home. This layout absolutely must be stored in e-guma.
What to watch out for
- Create the voucher layout in A4 format to suit all common home printers
- Configure the margins to 1cm, as most home printers are not capable of borderless printing
- The contrast should be as clear as possible, so that the voucher can also be printed in black and white (should your customer not have a colour printer at home)
Example layouts
On-site layout
On-site layouts are used if you want to print the voucher on site, at your own business location. You can use the same layout for on-site printing as for print@home printing, or you can create a custom layout for on-site printing if you prefer.
What to watch out for
- e-guma supports a maximum of two diferent layouts: the print@home layout and the on-site layout. No more than two layouts can be stored in e-guma.
- The on-site layout can be in a unique format (such as A5 or A6)
Layout variations
Pre-printed voucher faces
- The front of the voucher is pre-printed on thicker paper (profesisonally printed in high quality)
- The individual elements are then printed on the reverse by the e-guma software at your premises
- 160-200 gsm printer, so that you can use your printer to print without any issues
Pre-printed voucher cover with insert
- The voucher cover is printed using elegant, high-quality paper by a professioanl printer
- The individual elements from within e-guma are then printed on the insert sheet at your own premises
Example layouts
The data that we require..
... if we create the vouchers
